Master Rubric & Rubric Descriptors

The writeforward rubrics provide a comprehensive and consistent way for a practitioner to evaluate and discuss a learner’s writing.

They are a guide for learner self-evaluation and understanding of the writing process, and a direction for future instruction. This integration of writing production and feedback is the basis of formative assessment. The rubrics are really the backbone of the writeforward process.

The Master Rubric is used to create the customized rubrics for each individual writing exercise in writeforward. This provides consistency in the skills and strategies that are assessed. When you create your own writing exercises, use the Master Rubric to help you create the accompanying customized rubrics.

The Master Rubric is closely connected to the Rubric Descriptors.

The Rubric Descriptors document defines the descriptors of proficient, emerging and beginning and gives information on when to move a learner up to the next level.
